EU HPP Mental Health in all policies Network - your support needed to endorse joint statement by 22 May!

EU HPP Mental Health in all policies Network - your support needed to endorse joint statement by 22 May!

Evidence shows that "better integrating mental health benefits into urban planning, especially when tailored to neighbourhoods with poor exposure and access to green spaces, has a significant economic savings potential for public care budgets. Investing a greater share of health care budgets to improve public access to green spaces optimised for mental health benefits would also provide nature-based solutions, contributing towards the achievement of biodiversity and climate policy objectives and hereby creating a triple win" (IS Global).

Recently, The “Mental Health in all Policies” Thematic Network (led by Mental Health Europe and hosted on DG SANTE Health and Policy Platform) released a Joint Statement calling for a Mental health in All Policies approach as a key component of any comprehensive initiative on mental health.

Your support is needed to raise awareness for this important issue. If you also believe that everyone has the right to good mental health and that policies and actions within and beyond the health sector need to be put in place to promote and protect the mental health of our population, endorse the Statementhere and disseminate it amongst your networks.

This Joint Statement is very timely, considering that the European initiative on a comprehensive approach to mental health (announced by President von der Leyen in the 2022 State of the Union Address) will be published in June.

The joint statement already received support by 36 organisations and 16 individuals, but more support is needed. This is why we are asking you to please endorse this Joint Statement before 22 May and to widely disseminate it amongst your contacts.

The Joint Statement can be signed by organisations/entities at European, national, regional and local level. We all have a role to play to translate into reality the vision of a Europe where everyone’s mental health and wellbeing flourish across their life course.

Let’s show European institutions and leaders that mental health matters and that it is time to match the increased value allocated to mental health with commitment. Endorse the joint statement and ask contacts to do the same.
